Gov Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State Nigeria, has directed the imposition of dusk to dawn curfew in Jos North Local government Area. This directive came few hours after imposing same for Jos South and Bassa local government area.
Issuing the directive the governor stated that “from 2pm of today, Sunday 15th August 2021, a 24-hour curfew will come into effect in Jos North Local Government Area. This is necessitated by security reports which indicate rising threats to the safety of lives and properties within the Local Government”.
Governor Lalong urged the citizens to corporate with the authorities and abide by the directive for security reasons. With this chance security agencies will get a chance to deal with those fomenting trouble.
In explaining further he stated that the 24 hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area will remain in force until further notice.
“Again, citizens are to note that the 24-hour curfew in Jos North will take effect from 2 pm today 15th August 2021.”
It was understood that street urchins and mischief-makers staged attacks near the permanent site of Exercise Campus of University of Jos the previous night including in the volatile neighbourhood of Tin City Jos. Sunday worshippers conducted their services under very tight security.
